Non. Definitely.

The 'scents' in commercial products are derived from petroleum. Many are proven carcinogens and contribute to asthma, anxiety, depression and other health problems. Evidence is piling up that they contribute to obesity. (The body copes with what it can't break down by enclosing it in fat.)

The formulations are classed as 'trade secrets' so the manufacturers don't have to give more information than 'parfum' or 'fragrance.' If we knew how chemically close they were to gasoline, we wouldn't use them.

But be warned, in the U.S., products can contain fragrances and still be labeled as non-scented. The requirement is that the scents are officially there to cover the odors of other ingredients, not provide something additional. They still harm health.

It's just not worth it.
