Engineering Wise aluminum structure under a mono fiberglass egg might prove lightest. And wood rot won't be a problem. Here in the USA we get a 7.3 liter turbocharged 8,800 pound truck and hook up a 10,000 lb trailer, get 4 or 5 miles a gallon on #2 diesel. Drive to south Texas for 80 degree winters. With pop outs on the sides a real home on wheels. Happy camping

Aluminium is better as it is stronger and lighter, it will be less for your car to tow and when stored for long periods will not be prone to the rot that sets in on wood.
