Ancient Eastern spiritual masters have perfected a technique using the dependence of body, mind & breath !
When the mind is upset (a bit away from equilibrium), the breath and body too behaves abnormal. They knew the control over mind is no easy task. So they chose the other way. Practice to breathe a particular way, so that body too comes under control to some extent, and the thought pattern , the attitude , equilibrium happens better over a period of time. Most spiritual practises take this into account.

YOGA means joining togather.
Yoga brings the body and mind into equilibrium with the mind.
It is the wonderful way to understand both.
Mind can not be removed as well nothing can be removed from mind.
But to control one part of the mind`s unwanted activity; another part of the mind helps.

In my experience, some individuals are mind dominant and
others are body dominant. It is complicated to explain
which brings which into equilibrium. To be mind dominant
is to be adept at conceptualization, but physically inept
at signaling the physical body to compensate for the
concepts which the mind establishes. To be body dominant
is to be adept at reflexively calling the physical body
into motion, but mentally inept at explaining exactly
why the reflex is an effective concept. In my opinion,
people can potentially be measured on a scale from
mind dominant to body dominant and most people
are situated somewhere near the middle of the
scale.

Life's mysteries...sigh.

Are we really out of line? I am not sure myself. I think it is about what level you are talking about.

I know that stress really effects me and it is as if I am my own worst enemy , my mind and emotions actually damaging my body! Not by abuses like alcohol or drugs just the stress alone. So that would be out of wack!

Raise that serotonin! LOL!

Actually I believe happiness is a great harmonizing factor! Hard to achieve for many of us especially on a consistant basis. We do the best we can don't we.

I know I can sense it when I am hurting myself even in subtle ways. So I am making a conscious effort to 'feel better' learning to let things go and so on. Ironically things we associate with detachment are probably good for relieving stress and therefore good for the body.

Being consciously connected by treating the body with respect, as much respect as your mind, heart and spirit, should bring things into balance shouldn't it? Mind you, there are always challenges surrounding balance. You have to keep the balance. LOL!

We accaust ourselves with such brutal forces; pollution of body mind and spirit! It isn't even what we experience half the time it is how we experience it and integrate it into our consciousness and memory.

Yoga is good, sitting by a camp fire and sleeping on the earth can do it to. Reconnecting is important to us, while we are here this is an important part of who we are. Breath deep and tune into your senses. Dangle your feet in the water and play! LOL! Love your body.

The mind is powerful but it is lazy and undisciplined for most of us. That does not mean it can't be brilliant I am referring to its nature. It is incredible though and I believe it is a key to our body experience. I can see that because I know its negative influence therefore I know it must have a positive influence as well! Right?!

So working on the well being of our mind and emotions definatly helps the body. Organic food and clean air and water do to! We are what we consume! Mentally and physically.

Nice to hear from you James!
Peace and well being...a work in progress.

Jamie

So Cosmic you've had that experience too? Wow, small world isn't it?

I never want my body to be equal to my mind. Flaws make us what we are. I've not met a person yet who is well adjusted. Without maladjustment, psychology would just be a word people can't spell. To answer your question, I suppose death would be what brings the two into alignment.
