i agree with President Carter, he's a very intelligent man...just think if America would of kept his energy policies in place, that'd be 27 years of actually working our way towards energy independence...and by the way, Carter inherited the worst economy since the great depression (thanks nixon & ford) and actually turned it around although republicans like to credit reagan

It's like comparing apples and oranges, but truthfully neither were good presidents. Jimmy Carter was not in power long enough to affect any meaningful change. George W. Bush has been in power too long....And has made America hated worldwide. It boils down to who is the better man? Who created a legacy that will live far longer than the man himself? That would be Jimmy Carter, hands down. His legacy is bringing about peaceful change with Habitat for Humanity. His legacy if diplomacy.... Bush's legacy remanins to be seen, but it will in no way compare to that of Jimmy Carter.

Another's thoughts on Carter:
I’d laugh at Jimmy but I’m too tired from waiting in the gas lines because of the oil embargo. Oh wait! That was *his* administration. Hostages? Failed rescues? No, that’s not Bush either. Kidnapping Egyptian and Israeli leaders? No, not Bush. “Peace” agreement leading to Egyptian leader’s assassination? No, that’s not Bush either. Yeah, Jimmy had a phenomenal record of international relations from which to preach against Bush. Didn’t Jimmy decide to give Panama up? How was his Cold War record? Well, you get the point

What did Carter do?

Double digit inflation
Double digit unemployment
Gutted the military
Fired his Cabinet
Boycotted the Olympics
Gas line were miles long
Did nothing while Russian rolled into Afghanistan
Did nothing about the Hostages in Iran
Was a spineless coward...

No wonder the Liberals love him today.

Well he is correct and that man points the finger in the direction of the evils of our time. The greatest president of all times had it not been for the mess Gerald Food and Richard Nixon, the world would have been a better place. Now the next democratic president that take office will face the same problems. You will see jobs, homes, suv's lost because you won't have a job. America wake up, we the people means nothing to you.

Given the Carter Administration's performance on the Economy (home mortgage rates were triple what they are now), long gas lines at the filling stations, his own total incompetence with foreign policy which led to the Iran we see today, and his military ineptitude which gave us the debacle in the desert (simple statistics showed that at least two more helicopters were needed to meet minimum operating requirements), and his own personal failure to realize that Yassar Arafat was an outright liar....

Well, who but a fool would care what his opinion is?

I wonder what he thinks of how Simon behaves on American Idol? Carter knows about as much about how to pick the next pop star as he does about how to be an effective President.

Neocons slither
And neocons slide
When it comes to fighting
Neocons hide

They ask slimy questions
To tar all their foes
Like dog poo in summer
Squished up through your toes

They think they’re so clever
Blame Carter for all
But for Iraq
Bush takes the fall

The neocons hate liberals
Taxes, government and gays
But they kill our brave soldiers
By night and by days

They claim to be moral
With family values and prayer
But they drip with hypocrisy
No risk do they share

When it comes to the military
And going to war
Its not for the republicans
Its just for the poor

So keep asking questions
Designed just to smear
You give a new meaning
To the word known as queer!

Yep. Carter was inept; Bush is venal. Ineptitude is the lesser of these evils. Bush has no understanding of anything except what runs around in his head. He has turned this glorious government over to hacks, flunkies, bullies and yes men. He's a damn mess and in 600 days, if he doesn't blow up the world, he'll just be a bad memory.

Carter is doing what he can to try to change world opinion about himself as being one of the worst do nothing Presidents in US history. Both Carter and Clinton are trying to dig themselves out.
