There are two initial steps that you should take that may resolve the issue you are having. They are:

1. Fully update the software on your Macbook. Get a working wired Internet connection and run software update on your MacBook. Make sure that all updates...especially those relating to the wireless airport card and software...have been updated.

2. Update the firmware of the Belkin router to the newest version. Firmware is kind of like an operating system for a piece of hardware--it's the complete set of instructions and operations that a device knows how to perform. Go to Belkin's website and search for the given Belkin router that you have. Then download the newest firmware for that router and follow the instructions for updating it. I have had problems with connecting Mac laptops to certain third-part wireless solutions in the past. Upgrading the firmware to the company's most recent almost always solved the problem.

These steps won't guarantee your MacBook to work, but they stand a solid chance of solving the problem.

Or linksys.. or netgear :) Well, netgear isn't as bad.

This is a highly common issue. It seems that the pro series has no wireless issues, but the non-pro series does. So a macbook pro will work fine, but a regular macbook will lock it up. I have seen weird scenarios also, where people with macbooks can be working fine in an office until someone kicks on a pro. At my place, everything worked fine until I got an Imac, and it sent my wireless nuts.

Honestly, best opton, get an airport base station.

Routers dont have drivers - so ignore those suggestions, Connect it with an ethernet cable, and make sure in system preferences that your network settings are set to ethernet and not airport - if that works then you need to no the network key for the router (Wireless key) then use this key when set to airport

I ran into that problem with my iMac until realized the system calls ANY connection an Airport connection. Once I set up my connection through Airport, it worked.

You might have to download a driver for it. The new Macs use Intel chips, so the programming is different, and that might have something to do with it.

If it worked before...Its probably a driver issue. or a configuration thing with Mac.
