When you use Limewire you do not download anything from them.It is a file sharing site that allows you to share files from other computers. When you download you are in effect stealing the data or songs or whatever from that computer.Should there be any viruses or spyware on that other computer you will get them too.Much of the downloads infringe copyright laws,Limewire is not guilty as they are not the down loaders, they have only made the other computer files available to you,but you as the down loader can be sued for very large sums of money by record companies.Recently a young teenage girl in Canada was sued. It cost her mum something like $1300 to settle the claim. If you want to download music legally there are sites where you can do so after paying a modest copyright fee.Do it this way and do not steal from others.

Using Limewire or other P2P programs to download (steal) music, software and movies etc. without paying for it, is one of the leading causes of virus and spyware infections. Many downloads using P2P file-sharing programs are loaded with malware.
LIMEWIRE IS NOT A WEBSITE!
You will be downloading "stuff" from unknown stranger's computers while they will be uploading from your computer at the same time. You do not download from any website.
It is amazing that people who would never accept and eat a sandwich from a stranger, don't think twice about downloading a file to their PC from a perfect stranger, who lives half-way around the World!
If you don't know the difference between a .wmp (good) file from a .wmf (potentially very bad) file or a .zip from a .pif, then stay away from Limewire, Kazaa, and all P2P programs. The same is true if you don't know the difference between a song that is 25kb in size from one that is 3 mb in size. The smaller one is probably a Trojan, just waiting for you to infect your computer with.
P2P file-sharing is no place for computer novices. Even experienced expert users get infected using P2P at times.
If you must use P2P, always scan every file you download with your anti-virus and your anti-spyware before you open it.
..................
And don't forget the legality issues.
Using Limewire or any other P2P file sharing program such as Kaaza or Bearshare, (free or paid) to download any copyrighted music, movies, software etc. in illegal in the USA.
It is fairly rare, but people do get sued and fined for using these P2P programs. Such as this 12 year old girl here:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2003/09/09/the_riaa_sees_the_face/
It's your right to use Limewire, just make an informed decision!
Good luck.

Limewire is a p2p program, you don't download form the site. It's mostly secure for music but as your connecting your computer to someone else's to download the music there are ricks. Files on the other hand and full of viruses, so never download a .EXE file and stick to the ZIP files

Limewire is full of trojans so be very careful even with Pro version. Especialy if downloading programs & applications.

All peer to peer (p2p) clients are insecure and risky. If you use any of them, and that includes p2p clients like limewire, emule, edonkey, bearshare, shareaza, etc and torrent clients like bittorrent, utorrent, azureus, etc.
They are insecure and risky because you haven't a clue what you are downloading. You only have other peoples word for it that the file is what they say - it could be anything, virus, spyware, adware, absolutely anything.
If you use that kind of software on your computer you will, sooner or later have an infected computer. Only use them if you are happy to accept that inevitability. If you don't like the risks then stop downloading stolen music and software and go out and buy them instead.

You are better off using a bit torrent client like Azureus -check the wikipedia for information-many sites offer to track the fiels you want-Demonoid,PirateBay, Mininova, etc.
The bets thing about these sites is that you can read others comments before downloading-if a few people rate the file they will say-up to you whether you believe them :)
Dont worry about getting traced-you can plead innocence that your pc was being used by hackers to download these files-that alibi has worked -google for more info.
Getting music and films for free is one way of getting back at the multinationals.

www.limewire.com is where to go to get the LimeWire Peer to Peer program.
Once installed, you can get infected with malware any time you use LimeWire to download files that you don't want to pay for.
It's the illegal files that are dangerous, not LimeWire.

right this is a concept...on account that pirating copyrighted cloth (e.g. downloading song on Limewire) is unlawful, why do no longer you purely pay to your song downloads? then you certainly do no longer could desire to concern approximately it.

Totally secure on the Internet is a myth.....There is no such thing. Virus's abound virtually everywhere files can be downloaded from.
