I was wondering what is the procedure they use to close a casket and how do they lock it and things of that nature what is the procedure. I was at a funreal once and they did the stuff so fast that i did not get a chance to look.

There is usually something on a casket called a gasket, which is made of rubber. This rubber strip goes all the way around the base of the casket and when the lid meets the base, it creates a seal. There is a small entrance at the foot end of the casket where a long, metal crank is placed in and then cranked shut. Lesser expensive caskets and wood caskets close by 2 locking mechanisms on the front of the casket and do not offer any seals. Hope this helps.

It is usually done out of sight of the family and guests at the funeral. The lid is simply closed, and there are locks around the casket which are set into place before it is moved to the funeral car.

I have been to a few funerals, but have never been to a funreal. What happens at a funreal, is it realfun? Try learning to spell next time.
