If you drain only the fluid in the pan, it takes about 5 litres to refill with a filter change. If you remove the 7/16" drain plug on the torque converter and drain it, add another 6 litres for a total of 11 litres.

Your owner's manual probably lists a capacity of about 10 quarts of ATF. Maybe half that (5 quarts) will drain from the transmission when the pan is removed. Pour the drained ATF into gallon or quart containers so you'll know how much new ATF fluid to refill with. You can install a drain plug in your transmission pan so that you won't have to remove the pan for fluid changes that don't need a new filter installed.

You should have the trans sytem flushed--adding new fluid will not replace the bad fluid in the torque converter, lines and trans cooler and dropping the pan will show you how much friction material and metal particles, if any, are worn off the friction plates and gears....a sign of possible trans problems. Flushing the system uses the internal pump of the trans and does not do any damage and is the best way to get all the fluid replaced....figure on 10-15 quarts and always replace the filter, just like an oil change.
