Salut,
What kind of clothes you need depends on how much you like the cold. Coming from France you might be okay, but for me, a native Brisbanite, I think Brissie winters are FREEZING! Having said that we sometimes get beautiful warm days in the middle of winter. The average temperatures in July / August are about 10˚C at night up to about 20/22˚C in the daytime. But the night times usually get down to 5 or 6 a few times and day times can get up to the high 20s. Also beware of the westerly winds. They can make it feel much colder.

That's funny cos' I live in Brisbane and I'm going to France for the holidays. Brisbane in winter is like Paris in September, October. Generally 9-20 degrees. If you're on the coast, the temperatures are less extreme. You'd expect anywhere from 12-20 degrees. Any further west of Brisbane and it gets cold. If you're heading for Toowoomba, the temperature will be freezing.

Brisbane, Qld.
July Average Temps.
Average Maximum - 20C
Average Minimum - 10C
August
Average Maximum - 21C
Average Minimum - 11C
You can get quite blustery, westerly winds in August but it's not really very cold.
Will probably be dry. It nearly always is at the moment.
The "Ekka" is on in August and it's usually beautiful weather for that.
"Ekka" is the Royal Agricultural Society Exhibition, like an American State Fair. I don't know what the equivalent would be in France.

It might get a bit cold at night, but generally speaking, even in winter, the days are clear, bright and warm.
I usually find that the heaviest top I need to wear during the day is a cardigan. Pack maybe one warm jumper just in case, and some long pants such as jeans, but don't expect to get much use out of them!
A good tip is to layer a few light items of clothing, that way you can take a layer or two off during the day if it gets warmer than you expected!
Happy travelling, you will LOVE it here!
