I went with SBI - Site Build It.

What do they have?
Everything.
It is the Cadillac of website service
for small business.

How much?
$299 USD

Whenever they have a Christmas special
I buy extra sites and sell the ones I don't
have time to develop. Here's one with a video description...

My uncle who owns a business hired a area college student who was majoring in Computer Science or something like that to build him a site. It's a decent site and I think it was a good price so if you have a community college or a college in your area, you can see if an Instructor in the computer field can recommend a student and then ask the student how much they would charge. They will need to know in advance what you want on your Web Page. Good Luck!!

I woudl suggest you check out Yahoo's Site Builder software and small business hosting package... start small, think big. You can upgrade as you learn the software but my suggestion is to keep the site simple. Intense websites take too long to load and often lose the viewer's interest. Make sure to have reasons for your customers to return like contests, information, etc. As you design your site, think of yourself as a client... why are you going to your site??? Give the customers what they want or need so they return. If you are trying to sell, make it easy to do business... shopping cart, credit cards, etc. If you are there to advertise, offer trade information and testimonials, etc. Keep the site consistant but everchanging to offer the viewer what they are there for. Don't only meet their expectations but exceed them. Stay away from free sites. You get what you pay for.

It will cost some money or it will cost nothing, depends on your choice. For the second choice, you can find some business platform which offer payable service and free service, and you can use the free service which also allow you to put up your information about product, pictures, contact details....

Depending on what the site will be used for and other things hostmee.com can probably offer you a deal alot cheaper than most.

a friend of mine had a diet information page made by hostmee.com for £20,

it all depends on what you want your site to do? If you want a very sophisticated site , with custom graphics and logos plus e-commerce you're looking at a few thousand dollars ($us)

If you just want a simple store front like Yahoo Store, with a basic template then a few $100 a year , but it wont look very distinctive..

I've worked with these guys http://www.traxxinc.com and they seem to do nice site..

Good luck

I did mine myself. Not difficult at all. Services like Yahoo and Go Daddy provide the tools you need, in most cases.
