Only a real rap fan would answer this question correctly...Is there any question the answer is Jay-z? C'mon now, his album "the blueprint" was written in 2 days without pen and paper...Also, Jay-z was rapping thru the biggie-pac era, and is still very much active in the game today..He rapped in the time when the 2 legends were alive..jay-z's style is consistent, lil wayne sounds different on every album..Wayne's name shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as jay-z..If you were trying to turn this into a question of best rapper alive, just substitute nas for lil wayne and you have a real discussion.

What? This shouldn't even be a question. Jay-Z has how many platinum records? How many records has Jay-Z put out? How many rappers has Jay demolished?
Hell, Jay has been in the game so long, and has such an impressive resume.. and Lil Wayne hasn't even produced a beat or anything...
Look at the classics Jay has made! "Reasonable Doubt", "The Blueprint" Name a classic, or a critically acclaimed record Lil Wayne has put out...
That's not even considering Jay's now a CEO of Def Jam...
No contest..

Jay sent a punk *** petty subliminal cheap shot at Wayne's team like he usually does with everyone, therefore that justifies Wayne's response. I'm not a Wayne fan but I honestly like that verse to some extent, it just got bad after the Jay-Z diss part.

They're both in my top 5, but Jay holds the crown on anyone, Big and Pac included. I wasn't a huge fan of Weezy's early stuff although "We ain't got on no suits/ cause we ain't tryina be presidents" from 'the block is hot' is one of my favorite bars ever. But lately all of his stuff has been fire. Download the Dedication 2 from DJ Drama. That's a hot album. Cannons is the best track on it and Georgia Bush is a good send up of our Idiot-in-Chief. When Jay retired Wayne was right to say he was the "best rapper alive since the best rapper retired."
They're both similar in that they word things with creativity. You don't hear about 24 inch rims and Cris on every track. They both step outside of tradtional hip-hip and differentiate themselves from the mainstream.
Once Hov steps into the booth though it's over. I've got more Jay-Z on my laptop than anyone. Club bangers, mellow tracks, introspection, he's got it all. Not only that but he's stepped way out of his element to continually tackle new ventures. He's not just an artist he's a role model for those who want to openly tackle the corporate world.
I know I'm gonna catch flack for saying he's better than Pac, so I'll make a concession. Pac's content was better. He was more socially conscious, even Jay admits that. But he knew where the money was at and that's where he went. Jay's lyrical style has everyone beat though. Hands down.

Wayne uses ghost writers. Jay goes into the booth and rips verses from the top of his head.
Who's the better rapper? No question, it's Jay Z.

Jay z is better, he has more money, more sells, more classic albums, he has went diamond on two albums and about to go for a third. Wayne is a lyrical beast but no where near Jay in business or talent. I mean Wayne can eat a mix tape but cant make a multi platinum album.....

I respect Jay-z cuz he comes off the top of the head with his verses but he steals lines. If you listen to Cam'ron's track "Swagger Jacker" it lists a bunch of lines Jigga used from songs by Biggie, Pac, Nas, Big L, etc. But besides all that he's still a great rapper and so is Weezy so I'd say it's a toss up. The only way to truely know is for them to go head to head.

Jay-Z, he has better songs and better lyrics and Lil'Wayne cannot freestyle or gansta rap,he mumbles a lot when he raps and Jay-Z is damn better rapping than Wheezy,Wheezy kissed Baby and he is not his real father,he kissed Baby just for money. He thinks he runs things and he is talking bout how rich he is but he isn't.Jay-Z is a true rapper.
