I live in Los Angeles and i need to know that if i go to motel do they check for id or not ?

They will check for ID of the person who is responsible for the bill. If you are the person who will be getting the room and responsible for paying for it, then they will check your ID like drivers license. They do it to make sure you won't take off without paying.

All of these answers are correct. I would also like to add that they need to verify who you are and where you live in case you do any damage to the room, or take more than just the little bar of soap in the bathroom when you leave. Peace.

They are supposed to, however some do not. As evidenced by my stolen credit card being used for two nights in a hotel in Irving Texas.

Identification cards or passports are required for checking in at a hotel for security purposes.
