A shift leader is in charge of the shift you are on. This could be anything from the people to the restaurant itself, depending on what they think it is. It varies with the establishment so you should actually talk to the person who is giving you the job. It is a supervisory position which means you have leadership skills and they like what they see. Congratulations!!!!

A shift leader is someone incharge but is not managment. I worked in a 24 hr resturant and the male cook (all cooks are males and waitresses are female) was the "shift leader" because we don't have managers on 3rd shift. So he made the decisions of what to do during certain issues.

A shift leader makes a little more money and gets to tattle on all of the employees to management. You have no real responsibility, and no real friends - but you feel important with your shift leader badge.

It is a promoption. You can get off the line work. You ensure the operation is running smoothly. Make sure the poeple take the right braks and lunch.
if someone calls off sick, you may have to do their job or assign one of the other persons to do that job.
A little more responsibiliyt that the regular shift worker.
