no, the association has nothing to do with you mechanicals. You should have got the inspection. Try a window aircondondition to make up for the undersized unit.

1st: is the a/c working? Or is it working as it should and not cooloing the home enough? If you have supply runs to every room, and unit is undersized, the cheapest way to resolve is to close off vents to largest room and get a window unit just for that room. This will free up volume of air to take care of the other rooms better.Try balancing the registers. Registers closest to blower should be closed partially in order to force air to rooms further away. There are many factors involved in upsizing an a/c unit. (Furnace blower size, ductsize and # of supply runs in the home.) You have to make sure that a/c size is compatible with items mentioned above. But if the a/c is working and not big enough for the home, the best way is to isolate the largest room from the rest of the system and get a window unit for just that room. Check filter monthly!!! Most furnaces are also equipped with a multi speed blower. Did technician check blower speed when it is in a/c mode when he checked unit. Furnaces blows @ a lower speed when it is in heat mode. Did technician do a load calculation to determine you needed a larger size a/c? Sounds like he should've gave you more information on this. Hope this helps!

I am not sure where you live but I can get home service plans for various appliances in my house through my natural gas company . It costs a bit but covers my furnace, ac and a few other appliances . It really pays off because they come out and fix almost any problem. I would call my utilities and ask them if they have a home service plan available . If so then sing up and if they ask if your appaliances are working just answer yes . Then wait a few days and tell them that you need to get service on your ac unit. The other soultion is use window units. These have goten real cheap in the last few years and don't use nearly as much energy as they used to.

In the first place: if the first air conditioner was O.K.ed by the first building inspector then it should be O.K.: One way or the other, it still should work? it should blow cold air.
Two, get this one going before you go any further, I think someone is trying to shove you on the back burner or pulling one over on you. Try and find out, in the meantime, who did the inspection or, who did the work, the air conditioning work.

If anything call someone, independently, in, see what they say and try and get it going. It may just be a capacitor, relatively cheap. Go from there.

Start at cheap work from there, you might be surprised.

Maybe this will help, try checking the air filter. Not enough air flow will reduce the performance of the unit. If I were a repairman these days i would rather replace an entire unit than troubleshoot an old one. Got to outside serviceman and get a second opinion.

I agree, call an independant for a second opinion. The unit may not be big enough, but you can still use it. In the meantime, get some fans and start sweating like the rest of us.

The repairman probably assumed you have insurance that would pay for a new unit. You probably just need to call a repairman of your own choice to refill the freon in the unit. That should cost you around $85-$100.
Good luck!!!

First thing to do is to open the available window you have and use electric fan to cool the house and then look for the a/c technician to do something on the existing a/c you have and to boost the cooling capacity use a electric fan as a booster.

get someone independent to have a look at it again, if they say its the same problem then just get a few fans from home depot or somewhere , you'll be fine!!
