Why does the media, industries, executive leaders, managers, employees, individuals, and society focus on ethics?

Because business ethics affect the way people feel about investing in certain businesses.
Because a violation of some business ethics, like SEC violations, are prosecutable, and adversly affect the stability of the business.
Because no one wants to be audited by the IRS...
