and I was your good friend, and you came over to my house, and I started smoking a cigarette, would you leave, ask me to step outside, talk me out of it, or even try to pass a law against smoking?

If the smoke started to bother me, I would either request that we continue the conversation outside, or tell you that I had a pressing engagement, and leave.

You are too old for me to tell you how to run your life, and I am not your parent.

I am not motivated enough to press for an Initiative, and gather the required signatures.

Your house is your house and your rules. Now if you and your house smelled like most smokers I probably wouldn't come over. If you had kids with chronic health issues and you still smoked in the house I would call your State's Children's Services.

Smoking must only be enjoyed in places where there are no non-smokers. Most of the people will frankly tell you to smoke in an authorized place only.

If it was your house, I probably wouldn't do anything. It's your house and I think you should pretty much be able to do anything there.

in public, especially places where I have to go, e.g. the grocery store, smoking shouldn't be allowed. At least not close to the entrances.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I can't believe the answers you got saying if they came to your house, they would ask YOU to go outside!!! Why not have them invite you over to their house for a nice home cooked meal then tell them----- please remove everything from the table that has salt, sugar, carbohydrates, meat, anything made with processed ingredients or chemicals, treated water, alcoholic beverages, anything with aspartame, trans fats, omega fats, etc. etc. because they are not good for me.
If non-smokers want fresh air----maybe THEY should go outside!!!

wow. people want to come into your house and tell you what to do. What the Hell is wrong with people. Just imagine if they got payed for it like Law Enforcement agencies and Politicians

Its sad to think that people are still so violent and disrespective. they don't even know where to draw the line.

I wonder if they're going to tell you what to read too. And if not, they'll take your children.

OMG.............

Shame Shame......................

If you were my friend you would understand and be considerate of my discomfort.

As for me, I would tell you (as I do) that :
As friend I feel compelled to tell you that smoking is really bad for you, and I think its very stupid, and I wish you wouldn't do it. If I found it stifling I would move to where I was comfortable.

Your house is not a public place.

Big difference.

See, it's your house. Who the hell is anyone to tell you what to do in your house.

If we were at the mall or something, then you'd have to adhere to the mall rules and then it wouldn't be my problem.

Hope this helps.

ask you to step outside. Smokers are the most inconsiderate people on earth! They know second-hand smoke is dangerous and annoying to non-smokers but they do it anyway. It's like they don't care. Just my opinion.
