Coz i have an appointment to give blood tomorrow, but i got my period today.

They're coming to my school, and they only come every few months, so i'd really like to.

And i live in australia, so its not like i'm doing it for the money, we don't get paid for our bodily fluids here.

When you have your period your body is sloughing off old blood. It is not actually "bleeding" at that time. It should be fine to go ahead and contribute to as a blood donor. If you are chronically anemic or have iron deficiency anemia. They will not let you donate anyway.

Thanks for donating life to keep others alive.

yeah of course. but what actually happens in your body is that you also loose blood during period, then if you are still going to donate i guess that would probably loose you a lot. so maybe after donating ask your physician if you can have ferrous sulfate or iron, take it with orange juice for better absorption. have enough rest =)
so good luck.

As far as I know, you can. I haven't heard anything to the contrary. But when you go in, ask one of the nurses. She can tell you for sure. She might even give you an extra cookie or juice box *winks* It's all about the juices boxes! LOL

Yes you can. The blood in your menstrual flow is NOT the blood in your veins. So you can donate blood.

you can if you pass the initial screening. most women who are on their periods tend to have a lower iron level, which might exclude you from donating that day.

(Was that a slam on the U.S.?? I always donate blood FOR FREE, excuse me!)

Anyway, unless you're anemic...(not enough iron in your blood) I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. If you're anemic, they wont let you donate anyway.

Ask the person before you give blood. If it is unsafe, they wont let you do it... if it is fine, they will... simple as that.
