tell me how and why the pistons or cavs will win

The Pistons will win for the following reasons:

1) Defense wins championships. The Pistons have so many weapons offensively and so even when they are off they play great team defense which ultimatley makes them the odds on Eastern Conference favorite.

2) LeBron James is not the most "clutch player" in this series. If you've been watching the playoffs in a tight game between the two clubs- the Pistons have more big time players in the clutch (especially Chauncey Billips). LeBron is not as clutch. Also Detroit is a much better free throw shooting team which matters in close games in the 4th quarter.

3) Pistons have playoff experience and homecourt advantage. The Cavs will have to steal at least one home game from the Pistons to win the Series- and even at that- Detroit can easily win one in Cleveland. Cleveland's home court advantage isn't that distinctive- and Detroit is used to big games.

4) The Pistons are a better team. Apart from LeBron the Cavs do not have the supporting team to get past the Pistons. They got lucky in round 1 that Washington had no Arenas and Butler and in round 2 they struggled and wasn't really all that impressive against the Nets.

Anyhow that's my analysis,

Nickster

I think that the Pistons will beat the Cavaliers in 6 or 7 games. Tayshaun Prince will be the "X-Factor" in this series because he has to take on the task of guarding LeBron James. If LeBron struggles in this series, Detroit will most definitely be going to the Finals. The Cavs supporting cast is getting a little better around LeBron James, but the Pistons' defense knows that LeBron is the only proven scorer. Therefore, they will adjust their defense and make other Cavaliers make all their shots. But as I said, whether LeBron scores 30+ a night is all depending on how well Tayshaun Prince guards him. So far, it hasn't been a problem over the course of the past few years. Also, Detroit will be led by Chauncey Billups. If he has a good series, the Pistons are almost guaranteed to win.

I've seen this question a number of times, but and since then some things have changed, but I'm still going with Detroit.

Pistons have one major edge over the Cavs, consistency. The Cavs are at best, streaky, and while Lebron is good, I would even dare say, beyond good, he can't be expected to carry the team, especially against a team like the Pistons. The solid, efficient defense of the Pistons is what makes them the well-oiled locomotive of the East. If we look at their line, they have five fairly solid starters, all can score, pass, and are solid defenders. The only weakness I can cite would be the lack of a dominant big man (I know Chris Webber is good, but he's not really a center), however, Cavs can't really exploit that, (Ilgauskas? c'mon). While the Cavs often have to funnel much of their offense through James, the Pistons are able to move the ball around to create offense, with dynamic players such as Billups and Webber, who move the ball well and create easy shots for their teammates. Detroit is just one solid club, and the Cavs, simply don't have the consistency or efficiency to match. There is not one part of the game that the Cavs can solidly dominate, which is what they would need in order to win.

Short answer: The Cavs are a one man team whose one man is having a down year.

Longer answer: The Cavs have one trump card. Getting the ball to Gooden) and keeping it as far away as possible from Larry Hughes). Power forwards who can follow their own shot are a major achilles heal for the Pistons. If Gooden isn't averaging 18 ppg, the Cavs aren't winning (unless LeBron is averaging 58.6).

In reality, the combination of Pavlovic, Hughes, Gibson and Snow combine for 40% of the Cavs minutes. Find me a similar combination of Pistons players who do not overwhelm that crew.

Now that the Suns are out, one could argue that Stern has issued his mandate to the refs, which will mean Prince losing time to fouls (and that there will be no more than five travelling calls during the series). He desperately wants one of his golden children (Wade, Nash, James) in the finals.

I find this talk to be a bit overdone.

The refs will maintain their integrity as long as the Pistons keep control. Le Bron is a lousy free-throw shooter (expect a lot of 13-22 type performances).

I'll take Detroit in six.

Pistons could win because of defense and experience.
Cleveland could win because they have the last legit 'Superstar' let in the playoffs. Superstars have a major effect on everything that happens on the court.

Pistons will win because they are simply the best at handling these types of situations. They can get key stops whenever they need it. They are way too balanced to try and shutdown one player.
Rip will get his points no matter what.
If 'Sheed shows up no one can match his versatility.
C Web can score but his passing makes this team vastly different from past Piston teams. Also C Web hasn't won a title yet so he provides much needed fire to keep the Pistons focused.
Everybody pays attention to Tay's defense but lately he has been a key contributor on offense. In my humble opinion he is the most essential part of the Pistons.
Mr. Big Shot runs this team like a S.W.A.T. team commander. He puts his people in position to make the shots that are needed to take out the bad guys. Notice how when things start going bad for teams their coaches call time out to change the momentum? Not with Mr. Big Shot on the court. He just hits a 3 or drive to the basket for an And 1 to settle the crowd down.
Man I love this team.

Detroit will lose to the Magic in the 2nd around in the event that they are no longer careful. Lebron has been a monster against the Celtics this 300 and sixty 5 days. The Cavs are 2-2 as against the Celtics, and each game has been close, so i do no longer understand what video games you have been watching, however the Cavs can beat the Celtics. My prediction is Magic vs. Cavs, with Cleveland going to the Finals back!

Detroit in 5 or 6. Cavs are good, but they're not as composed as Detroit is.

Detroit will win. Their close shave against Chicago should wake them up, and they have championship experience and a much deeper team than Cleveland. LeBron James will be the best player on the court, but the best team is Detroit, and they'll take the series in 6.

I think the Cavs, will win against Detroit in 6 games. Why? The Cavs are younger, there starting to click, and of course LeBron. Hes going to dominate against prince, but he'll have a tough time. Detroit wins 1st game and 4th game. Then there you have it. LBJ BABY WOOOOOOOOOOO! GO CAVALIERS
