I had a pap smear after finding out I was pregnant, (I havent had one in a while, over a year, less than 2) I bled during the pap, and I dont remember that being the case in the past. I didnt spot at all after and there wasnt any need for a panty liner or anything. Of course Im going to talk to my Dr on Wednesday at my next appointment, but does that happen often, and if not, what does it mean usually when it does?

I only knew that I bled because my dr said "oh, youre bleeding a bit" and i freaked out a little, being pregnant and all, and said "oh god, is that normal, am i ok? is the baby ok??!" and she said yes its normal everything is fine, youre not bleeding much at all and she showed me the little wand thing that they use to scrape that looks like a big mascara brush and it just had a bit of blood but she made it sound like it was perfectly normal, but of course it still freaked me out

It happens very often. No worries...

Now, being pissed off and all today, I would like to add a comment for your Dr... "Dude, are you an amateur? You scream, oh, you're bleeding a bit, during an exam? Next time I hope you get a girl that will run away with the pap brush still inside, let us all see you running after her you loser, keep your silly thoughts to yourself and stop worring the patients for no reason".

Sorry ppl, I'm very very pissed off today, I love you all though :-)

Did I mention that it is no biggy that you bled? It doesn't mess with the results and it probably means he got a good sample. Now, there are a few disorders that cause fragility to the area, but that will be shown on your results. No worries, really... It is common and of course (DUDE!!!) we do not announce it since it (apparently, DUDE!!) would worry a woman for no reason whatsoever.

Love ya all, did I say that?

Bleeding Cervix During Pap Smear

I bled when they were taking a biopsy and it was because the Dr. pinched a little too much when taking a sample.
It hurt like hell though so I'm pretty sure you would have noticed something like that.
Did the Dr. apply anything after process? Like something to stop the bleeding? If so than they may have been aware.
If not, you might just be spotting (which can happen when your pregnant) but definately check in on Wednesday to see for sure.

No. A PAP is a scraping of cells from the mouth of the womb, or lower part of the cervix, with a sampling from the cervical canal. A trained gynecologist would never get to your upper cervix.

Don't stress yourself out! =) Especially being pregnant! You have enough to worry about. =) I just had mine a month or so ago, and I had never spotted/bled before but I did this time. It turns out that it's nothing to be worried about. My biggest concern would be if it was continuous and didn't stop. Just remember it's called scraping for a reason. Good luck with your pregnancy. =) God bless.

If the bleeding was light, resolved quickly and was directly related to the scraping then it's nothing to worry about. And this is just what happened, right?

It was just because of the cervical scraping, that's all. But by all means, bring this up on Wednesday.

Probably the same as if you dig up your nose real hard and scrape the side and it bleeds a little. If you're that concerned, you should have called the doctor when you first noticed it.

It's normal to have a little spotting after it...cause they're taking your cells after all..It's happened to a lot of girls I know.
