My mom has diabetes and suffers from a yeast infection and she says it drives her crazy. She was crying the other time and it broke my heart. She says she started feeling a burning sensation for the first time after she gave birth to my youngest brother, he's 13 now. It got bad when she was diagnosed with diabetes (about 4 yrs ago), now she believes she was suffering from diabetes/yeast infection much earlier. She believes there has to be a medication outhere that can help her because she was prescribed a medication recently to treat the fungus in her toes and she says that while she was on that medication the yeast infection completely disappeared. The smell didn't though. Now it's back and I feel so sorry for her. I wish I could make it go away. Now, I'm concerned about the yeast infection spreading because she gets bloated often and her stomach aches a lot (sometimes). She says it feels like her intestines are being ripped apart. When this happens she can't pee.

if your mom wants to get rid of the yeast, she has to control her diabetes. if she gets her blood sugars under control, then the usual Monistat cream you can buy in a drug store will take care of the yeast, but only if she has her blood sugars under control.

I used to get yeast infections all the time. There is help for her. My gyno had a phrmacy make boric acid suppositories. Its a compound that they have to make there at the pharmacy. Very few do it. A pharmacy in Findlay, Ohio called Scaroubourghs, makes it right there.. I think thats how its spelled... antibiotics will also bring on a yeast infection. It can't spread to any other organs like the stomach or intestines, but if its let go too long, it will be very hard to get rid of and can cause serious bloating and some pain. I would suggest seeing a gynocologist immediately. If she feel pain in her intestines, it could be her uterus being so infected with yeast infection. There is a very delicate balance down there, and once it is off, it should be treated quickly. If she can't pee, she may have a kidney stone, which would also explain the pain she is feeling in her intestines. Sometimes pain seems to be coming from one area when its actually coming from another. A kidney stone can move around and cause blockage. A kidney infection can also cause bloating. Good luck to your mom, and you are a good daughter for being so concerned. Have the doc write her a script for the boric acid suppositories. I had to use them for a month straight, but it was gone and didn't come back for a long time. Over the counter treatments are not going to help her. She needs long term treatment because she has had it for so long. If the smell you are talking about is a very bad odor, it is not a yeast infection. She may have 2 infections, which could also cause pain. TAKE HER TO A GYNO ASAP!!!

Wow! It sounds like she needs to go to the doctor really badly!

There are many over the counter yeast infection remedies that you can buy in the pharmacy section of the grocery store.

There are also a lot of natural preventative things that she can do like change her diet, for starters. Sugar feeds yeast, too, so stay away from that. But look up some stuff online for homeopathic remedy. If enough sites say the same thing and look like credible sources, if your common sense says that it can't hurt to try and might work, then maybe it's a credible solution (like active yogurt cultures). Not all people react the same way to natural or medical treatments, so just trying some different ones can be helpful.

Your Mom just really needs to get to the doctor and get diagnosed. Also, maybe she could get more of the antifungal pills that worked before. She might have a urinary tract, bladder infection or some other kind of issue that's causing recurring problems and only testing can find those things to target them for treatment.

Speaking from personal experience, bloating, stomach aches, intestinal pain and difficulty urinating were all symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome - not a yeast infection. Fortunately, I was able to have it completely go away by altering my diet (no dairy, red meat, caffeine and cut way back on sugar - the hardest thing). I only had to quit completely for a couple of weeks until I got back to normal. I can't go back to eating like I used to, but I can have all that stuff once in a while (like once/wk) without any problems.

Seriously, though, she needs to go to the doctor.

It is very rare for a yeast infection to spread to other organs. The only other place I have heard of a yeast infection is the mouth. Every thing you tell me about your mother leads me to believe that she might have more going on down there than a simple yeast infection. What keys me into this is you talk about the smell. There are a lot of women out there that are prone to yeast infections their whole lives. There is over the counter medication that can cure this. If your mother keeps having these repeating symtoms she needs to see a Dr. about this right away. Good luck.

yes yeast infection do spread badly to other internal parts if not treated properly. dibetics do suffer from frequent yeast infections, it really do pain alot and makes life very difficult. i fully sympathise with ur mom. butttt this infections has many good and really effective medications and treatments. take ur mom to gynac, she will look into situation, and will prescribe treatment. follow that treatment as she said. treatment sometimes require husband to take some medicines also, if it is so then this should b followed. ur mother will feel some relief for sure. also ask her not to wash that place with very cold or very hot water. do not aplly any kind of cosmetics or soap in any case plz. wash and wipe it gently and calmly with normal water. for instant relief apply Gentelene-c tube. im telling all this bcoz i myself suffered this problem.

sr if your mom has a doctor,he ought, mom ought to have an appt with him and a podiatrist to excise ALL fungal infected nails(local anasthesia,,,,,,,sounds rough, but stinging from needle doesn't last long, and they'll all grow back),,a liver profile to determine it's fuctioning properly in advance of oral antifungal administration,,,,,,,needs doc to take skin, nail, mouth, vaginal swabs & scrapings to determine which fungii are involved,,,and that might be candida albicans, trichophyton rubrum,,t mentagrophytes,,,,,,or one of 10 other fungal types,,,,,,,,those i wrote out are common, she ought to be proper weight, taking insulin as directed by blood sugar testing,,,,,,,eating no sugared cereals, white flours, colas, corn sugars, alcohol,,,,,,,,,and YEAST laden foods,,,,,almost everything off thr store shelves has yeast.there might be ONE food that messes up her immune system that she determines by an elimination diet(theres a lot to this,,,,',the yeast connection' is a book that gives a lot of detail on the elimination diet) that food might be chicken, beef, pork, seefood, corn,or even the cola berry,,,,,,,no matter she drinks diet coke, pepsi or whatever..diabetes is a saccharine disease in which,if the author of the book above is right, chemicals, manmade, and natural occuring ,have a pivotal role
