I have been a PC user for the last ten years and I know Windows in and out and am desperately looking for a change. I am very impressed with the reviews and user friendliness of the Mac. I am mainly looking at buying a laptop. Being a college engineering student, my work requires usage of a lot of programs like Matlab, Fluent for CFD and stuff like that. I am aware of the availability of emulators for running Windows software on Mac and now that Windows can run on a Mac, would you guys out there suggest me changing to a Mac?? Is it worth the cost?? Also, if I decide to take a Mac, should I buy it now or wait for the Leopard to come? There aren't any big changes that I can see other than a few frills here and there..
I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

You may get a mac and you could use boot camp and also have XP on the same computer. That's a way that you can have a mac and a XP on the same computer. Leopard would have the boot camp already installed and could install Vista on the computer too but you can still get it for tiger. Also you need to buy XP or Vista separate and install it. They also might give offers if you buy an mac before the new leopard like they did with vista. You might waight a month or two

OK. Im japanese and iv done a couple of presentations at apple stores proving that im a true mac fan. The truth is that vista is a perfect copy of leopard and you would be better off getting leopard, a mac. Its been proven thats its cheeper and faster to get a mac and get bootcamp (free) and get windows working than to just buy a windows computer.

why pay that sort of silly money for the mac computer

Buy any laptop, and install Linux, it is FREE and you get all the software you will ever need FREE

Do some research into Linux operating system. Linux is another form of Unix just like the Mac

I prefer XP..I don't like Vista because it's rather slow, and like you said, it's outdated..You can get XP for a Mac also.
