Kia is junk, comes from Korea, division of Hyundai now.

Hyundai is junk. They are trying to mask that image by moving plants to the USA, but still junk.

Daewoo or also known as the Aveo line from Chevy is junk.

Suzuki's are mainly other car makers bottom line car, re-badged. They change who they buy from every few yrs. Yet to see one that was even worthy of being anything, so junk.

1st generation of Geo by Chevy was junk, re-badged bottom line Isuzu's. 2nd generation Geo was good, re-badged Toyota's (Prizm = Corolla, save few grand easy by name alone, yet parts are same)

Colbalt, Cavalier, Sunfire, Sunbird, all junk. Colbalt is new, but it is seeing major issues. GM as a whole is seeing issues, not wise to be near them right now, might implode.

Chrysler makes no good small car, and being fact they just got re-bought once again, not wise to be near them as changes will happen, parts will stop, etc.

Which leaves one with Toyota, Honda or Mazda. Notice I didn't mention Ford, thats a whole joke in itself.

the kia's that come to the shop where i work are clean well kept cars, the services preformed have been all routine in nature [oil service, tune ups, timing belt jobs, and brake jobs] all at expected mileages.
while in a higher end shop i don't expect to see alot of kia's, the owners are very happy with them and the best part they are easy to work on. as far as performance they are adaquit and much smoother running than any of the current models from the big three the fit and finish are pretty good too

consumer reports gives both low ratings; I worked for a driving school owned by Ford. Much to there dismay we used Hondas,, great little work horse . nice to drive seldom in the shop. hard to find a used one people dont give up a good thing. Many students bought them : Worst cars Ford Focus , Hyundai, did not stand up.. Remember these words:: Pay Peanuts Get Monkeys Or A lemon for a car.

since kia is korean, it is hard to get alot of parts from the aftermarket (your local autoparts store), and you have to go to the dealer (if they can even get them). same with auto parts for suzuki.

kias are junk, they are made with the cheapest material they can find, that is why you can buy a new one for so cheap. i know people who got them and something had to be fixed within the first 3 months of owning it..so don't buy one..
