Water deposits are usually very hard to remove, and it seems that you've had a really hard time in removing some of these pesky stains. You could try a concentrate lemon juice wash on the affect area to remove limescale deposits. For salt creep, splash the affected area with boiling water and rinse well. Make sure you clean both sides of the glass well. If it's glass, use steel wool to scrub the stain off the glass. In extreme cases, you *can* use bleach to clean aquariums. Mix a tiny amount of bleach in a beaker of hot water, clean the aquarium and then fill the aquarium with cold water and dechlorinator (the dechlorinator chemically deactivates the bleach). If the white marks are fine scratches or scuffs, you could buff them out with sandpaper for a smooth finish. Hope this helps!!

Take it to a high pressure laser (no touch) car wash as soon as possible. It will take care of the water spots without those scary cloth things going all over your car and wrecking havoc on the paint job.

Vinegar will do the job nicely. The acetic acid drives off the carbon dioxide in the deposits, converting them to calcium acetate, which is soluble. This stunt also does a nice job on bathroom plumbing, which is where I tried it and found that it works.
