Well, it is pretty hard, but you need to get volunteers to help you.
Talk to radio stations, and see if maybe you could get something no the air,perhaps offer them something in return, if you go to local retaraunts, they might give you say coupons to give to the radio stations to hand out in return for the radio station letting you air, of course you would have to tell the retaurant why you want coupons.
You could make and put up flyer's.
Prepare a speech and talk to local school about performing.
Make groups on the net, in Myspace and facebook.
Talk to people in your community and get your friends involved.
Write an article to the paper, to the editor.
Get the word of whatever you are trying to, OUT THERE!

Be the change you want to see. Lead by example, actions speak louder than words. People respond to what they see more than what they hear.
If you assume no one cares then that's exactly the type of people you will attract into your life and it will become a self fulfilling prophecy.
