i've got a canon imageclass MPC190S printer and recently, it's been having problems printing anything using black ink. more specifically, it prints blanks where anything black should be, eg, a text document becomes a blank piece of paper. colour works fine. the printer didn't send me any error messages.

i've tried everything suggested in the instruction manual - cleaning, deep cleaning, head alignment, changing cartridge. but didn't work. my printer's 3-4 years old.

any suggestions for fixing? or should i just start saving money to buy a new printer?

please help! thanks!!

It appears as if you need a new print head. Canon printheads are not too expensive, and are something that usually last 1-3 years, depending on use (or lack of).

I did some research and found that you need Canon part number QY6-0037-000. I found a few on ebay. Here's one supplier with them http://www.printheadxpress.com/catalog/canon/qy6-0037-000.htm . I've never purchased from there though, it came up when I plugged the part number into a search engine.

Canon printheads are REALLY easy to replace. You just take out your carts, raise a lever, remove the old print head, put the new one in, lower the lever, and reinstall your carts.

The print head is bad or clogged either way costs more to repair then a new printer. Save your pennies.
