I get this all the time. I don't know for sure, but my reasoning is this: either there are so many answers above theirs, they want to get rid of them by hiding them with a thumbs down... or, someone gave their answer first... or, you pissed them off in some other question, so now they are after you and where ever you answer, and they see you, automatic thumbs down.... or, there are a lot of people who just thumbs down answers that they don't agree with... or just for the heck of it... or, I get a lot possible because of my little orange box by my name (which means I have a lot of time on my hands) .....
or, something I didn;t think of. aka who knows.

Different strokes for different folks. What you or I perceive as perfectly reasonable answers, others may totally disagree. Each time that I post an answer I expect that others will feel differently, but that is just life. If it helps the questioneer then that is what I set out to accomplish, and the rest oh well..probably never see eye to eye.

Have you heard of the s-curve? It is a statistical tabulation, where you graph a group of answers on a x and y axis, and any group of answers by people (all kinds of people)tabulated this way will always form an s-curve. if so then the thumbs down answers will always be inside the s-curve, so make your conclusions.... there will always be people that give thumbs down and thumbs up..... am I confused already or am I confusing you already???? ok . i stop there.

Cos they have nothing better to do and think it is clever.

Also some people are brave enough to voice an unpopular opinion to a question that attracts a crowd of folks with the opposite opinion. It can be a perfectly fine answer but if it is anti racism, you can bet the racists will all thumb it no matter how polite.

Everyone has a different point of view.People might think that its a good answer and other vice-versa.You can't force people to see it YOUR WAY until you see their way. This world is full of indifference so its not like you can agree on everything. If they are jealous, it's their problem and no one elses. No one cares if they think its a bad answer cause its just their opinion.

I don't know, sometimes I feel like someone is following me around in here, giving me thumbs down, lets count how many come in your question

EDITED
See there are 48 thumbs down right now, silly people are probably stuck on level one, can't answer anymore, can't vote anymore, and are just being obnoxious.

Because what to you is a perfectly good answer makes no sense to them. Point of view.

"Because they are morons", is my personal favorite. They are spoilsports, killjoys, miscreants, etc. They are everywhere, and here is no exception.

Ignore them; they go away after they find out you really don't care! They like to pick on newbies and anyone with a different opinion then theirs. Hang in there!
