my mom traded me to the gypsies for a pony, but she was young and foolish (mother, not the pony) and i outlived the pony, so there ya go!

It stemmed from the idea that Gypsies were travelers and to give you to the Gypsies meant you'd never be seen again. A nastier slant on running away to join the Circus. One is bestowed upon you the other voluntary.
Either way aren't we cruel to kids?

I like gypsies, they seem interesting. I'd love to live with them, plus, some of my music sounds gypsy-like. haha.

I tell my daughter this all the time. Then we tell her that the gypsies would just bring her back, cause she is ornerier than them......

thats cute, my daddy always says i was traded, so if you sell me to the gypsys thats fine because i speak their lauguage, and my feet are plenty dirty! =)
