I have a 96 buick regal and I just had front brakes done today. He put in new front pads (lifetime warranty), new front rotors (two year warranty) Inspected rear brakes and they were fine. He did a couple of other small checks and did not find anything wrong. He charged me $286 including labor, parts and tax. Is this a fair deal? Just wondering.

actually thats cheap. Most rotors with a 2 year warranty are around $90 a piece. Life time pads: about $45. total of $225 for parts (about). this is not including labor

If I knew how much the parts actually cost I may be able to help. Most good pads would be $30 a set, if the rotors (the price can vary) were $60 each you are up to $150 dollars. So without labor added yet, it seems to be fair without knowing what the parts actually cost. Most places charge $50 / hour for labor. This is my best guess! Take care!

The new rotors are typically overpriced so tahh is what helped run your bill up. I paid about $400 for an equivalent on a recent model Ford last summer so your deal was much better than mine (at Munroe Brakes and Mufflers).

for sure, lifetime breaks are about 80.00 and rotors can be expencive depending on the car. My car monte carlo started at 30.00. labor is around 100 depending on the state. and tax on all that i think would be atleast 20

yes it's about normal. it also depends on the brand of brakes and rotors.

For high quality pads... yes, it is probably about right.
