you can put a fusible link anywhere you need one.....normally their installed right off the battery.....mostly on the positive terminal.....not the heavy cable....the smaller one.....some have two.....for normal electrical feed & alternator charging circuit.....if in doubt....install one in each.....good luck! bye the way....all they are is a lighter guage wire......sort of like a fuse that shouldnt need replacing unless there is a crisis.

A fusible link wire is usually installed on major wires coming from the battery or starter or alternator and is 4 gauge sizes smaller than the wire it protects, so if you're wiring it to a 14 gauge wire, you'll need an 18 gauge fusible link wire. The insulation is thicker on a fusible link wire so it may look the same as a normal wire but the wire strands are thinner. The factory fusible links are attached to the normal wires with a large plastic collar connector about a half inch long or so and the diameter of a pencil and the fusible link wire may have markings on it in ohms or the word fusible link. Wirediagram.com should have locations of where the factory fusible link wires go.

you can hook it to any positive power source that has a larger amp rating than the one you are trying to power. the link will burn out first
