I use to think it was ridicoules for people to question it. But how come we never went back? Why did we never establish a colony or space station there?

Whadaya mean we never went back...?!? There were a total of six Apollo manned landings on the moon. There is such a thing as the law of diminishing returns ya know..!

Why we never put manned stations on the moon...? $$$$$$$

There was limited benefit to going in the first place. National pride was no small part of the drive to be first. In the end we came, we saw, we learned, we left.

Establishing a lunar colony would have required some SERIOUS engeneering, logistics and CASH! Maybe it could have been done but what would we have gained for the effort?

As for those who say we never went, there is an old saying I would like to share:

Three can keep a secret if two are dead.

Now consider how many people would have been in on a project such as a fake moon landing, and NOBODY can produce a "smoking gun" as proof? Not to mention the pictures and broadcasts from the moon. Surely the Russians might have taken exception to us trying to fake THAT! They got the same signals, knew where they came from, etc.

Yes, we landed on the moon. And we did go back. And we are going back again (planned for about 10 years from now) to build a station so that future space exploration, particularly to Mars, can launch from the Moon, instead of Earth.

Because I don't know them off hand, and because this question is just too ridiculous to put much effort into it, I'll go the easy route and provide to you tWikipedia's list of MANNED mood landings:

List of manned Moon landings
Apollo 11 - July 16, 1969. First manned landing on the Moon, July 20.
Apollo 12 - November 14, 1969. First precise manned landing on the Moon, within walking distance of Surveyor 3.
Apollo 14 - January 31, 1971. Alan Shepard, the only one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts to walk (and golf) on the Moon.
Apollo 15 - July 26, 1971. First mission with the Lunar Rover vehicle.
Apollo 16 - April 16, 1972. First landing in the lunar highlands.
Apollo 17 - December 7, 1972. Final Apollo lunar mission, first night launch, only mission with a professional geologist.
In total 24 American astronauts have travelled to the Moon, with 12 walking on its surface and 3 making the trip twice. Apollo 8, Apollo 10 and Apollo 13 were lunar-orbit-only missions with no moon landings. Apollo 7 and Apollo 9 never left Earth orbit.

We've never gone back to the moon or established a moon base or colony there because those things take immense amounts of funding. If you look at how many billions of dollars were spent in the 1960s to get us there in the first place, it is amazing that Congress allowed it to pass at all. Why did they do it? Exploration of the unknown? Scientific discovery? While those are benefits of going to the moon and were secondary reasons, we went primarily because we were in a race with our worst enemies at the time -- the U.S.S.R. After we beat them to the moon, the political drive ended and the public lost interest. As they lost interest, Congress lost interest, and thus funding was cut. There were plans at the time to build bases on the moon and even go to Mars before the year 2000, but it all needed to be cut back. Now, NASA is actively working on plans to go back and establish a moon base, within the confines of their current budget.

As far as whether or not we went to the moon, there is undeniable evidence that we did. We have numerous samples of soil and rocks that could only have been formed on the moon. There are experiments left on the moon which can still be detected today. If you are still in doubt, look at all the "evidence" conspiracy theorists have, and then read this site: http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/apollohoax.html

Remember when a bottle of pop used to cost 50 cents, i don't and most people who aren't Seniors don't either, the thing is money in 1969 didn't have the same value the it has today, today a bottle of pop costs like 3 dollars, so when they went to the moon back then and spent billions of dollars in the process it would have cost trillions by today's standards to do what they did all those years ago. When i hear people say it didn't happen it makes me upset because those brave astronauts did something that made history, i think even if someone looks these people in the eye with proof that it really did happen they will still deny that it happened because by saying it didn't happen pushes people buttons, but at the same time everytime they say it never happened it cheapens the deeds of men braver than us.

We went back 6 times. Then the public got sick of it. So we put money into other programs. Like the space shuttle.

It's not all that easy to establish a base. Just look at the Biosphere. They couldn't keep 6 people alive in that thing for more than a few months without sending help.

We never went back because of budgetary constraints, and emphasis on going elsewhere. As to whether or not we landed on the moon, we did. If we can land spacecraft on Mars, the Moon would be a whole lot easier to get to. As to establishing a colony there, do you have any idea of how much that would cost? The budget just isn't there. And the US wasn't the only country to visit the moon - others followed us.

Do you believe that our government, as incompetent as they are, could have kept it a secret all these years if they had faked it? Somebody credible would have blabbed by now if it were a hoax. We really did go, it was just too expensive and dangerous to justify sending more manned missions after we went six times. We don't have the money, knowhow or resources to establish a colony. There would have to be an extremely good reason, like gold laying around on the surface, for us to go back.

Of course we landed. I was one of the landees.
The program was set up to operate as it did. Colonies or space stations were not on the list. After all, hopping off a space ship and playing golf for 2 days is one thing. Keeping hundreds of people safe and working and happy for months on end is another.

There are some idiots, who think that everything was staged in Hollywood. Well, some people just love conspiracy theories.
Of course we went to the Moon, and you know what is the BEST proof of it? The Russians. They monitor all our space flights (as we do theirs.) They monitor our flights not on our TV, they do it the right way. Do you think the Russians would keep their mouth shot if we "staged" it?
They were embarrassed if was us and not them, who sent people to the Moon and they would have screamed, if we tried to fool everybody.
If Russians are not saying a word about it, you may be 100% sure we went to the Moon.
