I found "Like Water for Chocolate" more romantic.

It depends on your defintition of the word 'Romantic'.

As a romance Cinema Paradiso (which happens to be one of my fav films of all time) certainly doesn't fit. But as a look at the past throught rose coloured glasses then it certainly does.

the two best scenes are have a great deal of nostalgic romance about them - the one where we follow the projected image across the wall of the projection room and out through the window (whilst the music reaches a cresendo) and the montage of Kisses at the end. So, if this is how you are defining Romantic then Cinema Paradiso wins hands down.
