for me it is a bath, clean underwear, black jeans, a clean t-shirt, clean socks and new laces in my sneakers. If an outdoors occasion a new NASCAR hat.

Formality of attire has different degrees... White tie, black tie, Tux or suite...it all depends on the event and occasion. I've been formal wearing a kilt!

No they are not okay. Formal wear means Suit and tie, with a white shirt or soft colored shirt. Or a tuxedo with the ruffled shirt or some kind of design on front and bow tie and sometimes cumber band(that is the piece that is around the waist). Formal wear is always a suit. Never slacks and different colored jacket, that is considered office wear or garden party. First you must find out what time of day it is meant for. That also makes a difference.

Depends on the occasion. If you are going to an event, and it says formal wear on the invitation, then a suit and tie is required, if not a tuxedo.

Slacks and dress shoes is semi-formal.

Button shirt and jeans is casual.

If you are attending an event that sent out RSVPs that requested formal wear, then formal wear would be a tuxedo (black tie). Otherwise, formal wear could be dark dress slacks, a dark sports jacket and a tie.

FORMAL WEAR ? EXTREMELY EASY. A TUXEDO. IF YOU LOOK UP ANY MEN'S CLOTHING CATALOG, BUTTON DOWNS ARE NOT FEATURED WITH THE DRESS SHIRTS, NOR ARE JEANS WITH DRESS PANTS. IT'S ASKING YOU TO DRESS FORMAL .WHY THE RELUCTANCE GUYS ? NOT AS IF IT MEANS WEARING A TU-TU. GOOD LUCK FRIEND AND ENJOY.

i think so, as long as you go with the vest. the vest is an essential piece in making your whole outfit look "formal" without it, it will look nice, but not as formal.
