parallell cable = go buy a Laplink compatible parallell cable and find an old copy of Laplink.

LAN... buy a crossover ethernet cable. Set up an IP address on each PC, hook 'em together. Or connect 'em both to your DSL router using ordinary ethernet cables. Either way you can shift files across from one to the other and with teh right software run one from the other.

You can connect two pc using one of the following method.

1. using usb cables
2. using com port [ null -modem] cable
3. using LAN cards
a. using Cross-Over Cable
b. using hub/switch
c. using router
4. using Parallel port cable

fastest connection would be through LAN card and cable
if you want to use cross-over cable, purchase one from computer peripheral vendor.

click on you network properties on each pc and give them a unique ip address in range 192.168.1.1... 192.168.1.254

if you have only two pc, then put the remote pc ip address as gateway ip address.

For example

PC1
IP: 192.168.1.1
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.1.2

PC2
IP: 192.168.1.2
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.1.1

to check whether your LAN connection is working or not

go to pc1 and
start->run->cmd
ping 192.168.1.2
if you get some result other than time out
then your network is working
