Yes, we are. Al Sharpton isn't flown in, he flies in on his own. Kinda like a buzzard spotting a good meal. The problem is that some idiots have decided that we have the right not to be offended. The founding fathers are probably spinning in their graves so fast that it's causing small ground tremors.

No, the United States of North Turtle Island is preoccupied to a superoptimal degree with the favorable versions of the truth of the art of the possible.

a. Because Al Sharpton speaks for every African-American on the planet.

b. Because Al "Race Card" Sharpton will git you if you do.

In some ways, yes, in others, no. Do you think that those who believe differently from the majority should not have the same rights as everyone else? Should those who do not believe what is popular be silenced? Should they not be equal under the law? Should they not be hired due to their beliefs? Should only YOUR beliefs be "sacred" and above ridicule? Why is it that it is the majority which has such a hard time sharing with the minority? Especially when that majority calls itself "Christian" yet shows no Christian patience, Christian generosity, Christian compassion, etc.? You can't even allow people to say, "happy holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" when "happy holidays" does not ignore Christmas but includes it, whereas "Merry Christmas" excludes all other holidays and beliefs which share the season? ~Ex-Christian. Atheist.

Yes, I think we are too politically correct. The First Amendment protects everyone's freedom of speech. However, it does not protect idiots from the consequences. Some people do deserve the complaints, but others are just exercising legitimate free speech.

Al Sharpton is a media whore and the media loves him....

no we aren't afraid to use free speech but part of having the freedom of speech means having the freedom to use it appropriately...

Because Al Sharpton gets paid for it, he is hypocrit living on his same race, it doesn't get any more hypocrit than that.

"Political correctness" is just hypocricy in a socialite term.

not according to yahoo answers anyways...

but I don't support Al Sharpton because I believe that things also happen to white,Hispanic,Indian,Native American,European people and it should be just as important..if he really wanted to practice true equality, he would be working for their rights as well...I'm sure you probably meant this question to be racist but whatever is whatever.

and if you really were innocently asking this question, then you got an answer to look at.

we got free speech...it's just the people that abuse it make it harder for the people who want to use it for the right cause.

al sharpton is a celebrity and spokesperson who enjoys the limelight and of course many people enjoy having a celebrity around them.
i don't.

as for america becoming too politically correct, NO, only the media writes about that type of stuff and then many people get outraged for a moment.
reality is, most americans, in our homes have no political correctness & when push comes to shove, we speak our minds, like it or not.
I like knowing what everyone is thinking ( I don't like white washing) but I don't care about them all, for I mainly care only for my family and close friends .

Definitely! When it becomes a bad thing for a white man to compliment a black man by saying the black man is "articulate" then politically correctness has gone overboard. I don't agree with what some people say, but I will defend their rights to say it.
