Make sure that he knows that most gangs are run as strict as the army with worse punishments. But don't just tell him, that would lessen the effect. Leave out some print outs on gang violence, the tattooing, disfigurements, etc. Also make sure to ask him how he would plan on getting a girl while stuck in a gang. Chances are he hasn't thought this out very much. I had a friend join a gang, they then proceeded to beat up every single person he cared about. When he tried to quit he was ran over. He didn't die thankfully, but he did have to move out of the state. Also, while this may sound odd, take him to a tattoo/hair/piercing store. And let him pick something out. It's not as cool when you will let him do it. So making it obvious that you will allow somethings rather than others may help a bit. And if he does choose something, like a mohawk or something else odd. Try to be understanding, he wants to be different and unique, and he's having trouble finding his place. Try sticky note questions maybe. You ask a question on a sticky note, thus showing him your question, but not making him obligated to answer it.

MUST REPRESENT THE HOOD AND
HISTORY CRIPZ BECAUSE OF RAY WASHINGTON
AND BLACK PANTERS!!!!!! KNOW YOUR HISTORY.

CRIPZ / CRIBS

Raymond Washington, a 15 year-old student at Fremont High School started what would later become known as the Crips in 1969. After much of the Black Panther power base was eliminated and as other social and political groups became ineffective in Los Angeles, Washington, who was too young to participate in the Panther movement during the 1960s, but absorbed much of the Panther rhetoric of community control of neighborhoods (Baker 1988, p. 28) fashioned his quasi-political organization after the Panther's militant style by sporting the popular black leather jackets of the time. In addition to emulating the Panther appearance, Washington also admired an older gang that remained active throughout the 1960s called the Avenues, led by Craig and Robert Munson. He decided to name his new quasi-political organization the Baby Avenues (aka Avenue Cribs) to represent a new generation of youths.

USMC serve your country yeah that was nice to but you can serve in Army or Navy Seals to. Not just Marines. Those other gangs I mention I would not join because they would take crips and bloods and make them look like Choir boys

The neighborhood squirrel gangs.
Why? Because they're so darned cute with their gray fluffy tails and twitchy whiskers... I don't think I could survive gang initiation, though... it involves running across a busy street, eyes closed, without getting hit by a car.

I've seen a lot of squirrel gang members killed that way. Sadly, I, myself, have actually accidentally squashed the head of one squirrel gang member that way. Very devastating.
