you wanna know something? i dont believe there is a such thing as peer pressure.. im 16 and i've never been 'pressured' into doing anything... by ANYONE!!! i believe there isn't peer pressure.. but instead there are just stupid people who dont have any common sense!
"oh i smoked pot.. because my friends said i should try it.. the peer pressure was TOO much!"
i see "oh, i'm too stupid to realize a friend wouldn't ask me to do something STUPID! so.. even though i have been in health since elementary hearing "you will die if you smoke pot" im gonna do it anyways.. because im an idiot"
i mean... am i the only sensible teen? *barring my friends.. who are equally unstupid* are we the only people who aren't the steryotypical stupid teen who has sh!t for brains?
its just stupid!

if its wanting to be liked, then i have one thing.. WHY?
why do people care what others think? I mean.. yes.. we all care to some extent.. but.. not enough to change!
So why do other people care so much what other people think?

The truth is that you also have a peer group(unstupid friends) and I have no doubt that if you did something "stupid", they would pressure you just as hard as the other kids stupid friends do. Peer pressure exists because human beings are social animals who need to feel part of a group. If you are a very secure person, you can belong to a group without having to submerge your identity to all their ideals. People who do things they know are stupid just to get along are not sure enough of themselves to stand on their own two feet, or to try to find a different group.
I'm glad you and your friends are unstupid, but don't be too judgmental of those who are not as fortunate as you.

Good for you for not succumbing to the peer pressures here on Earth.
Some people succumb to peer pressure because they want to fit in. They are insecure about themselves. Instead of calling them stupid, you should try to be a mentor and a good example.
I have never smoked and I was asked several times after I graduated from high school. It was something I simply did not want to do. I do not drink either. I can be proud to say I have never been drunk nor have I touched anything illegal or done any kind of drugs.
Kids need positive reinforcements about themselves and to be shown that they do not have to do anything like that to fit in. There are many other people willing to be friends with those who do not participate in adventures to "fit in".
Go out there and be a positive role model for those who are insecure. If you call them names, they may turn the other way and try it anyway just to be obstinate.
Keep up the good work and God Bless.

Because we are raised in a socially conscious society, in aspects we have been bred to do what people tell us. And when surrounded by people that we respect and want to be though highly of by, we do things that we normally wouldn't. Another fun fact, teenage brains don't have a fully developed sense of judgement. That mixed together creates some seriously stupid **** that normally teens wouldn't do.

well, i think its because everyone thinks that everyone else is doing it, when only some are... and maybe they don't want to look stupid in front of their friends... but if their friends let them do stupid stuff like that, what kind of friends are they?
