I had to reinstall a different version of windows because i lost all my files and information on my old computer, luckily I didn't have anything of importance on that computer but my music, and itunes.
So I reinstalled windows xp, reinstalled itunes and plugged in my ipod. First it asked if I wanted to erase everything from my ipod and I said no. Now that I put new music into itunes, it won't transfer those songs onto my ipod. HELP!!

Your problem is that the iPod no longer recognizes your computer as _its_ computer. iPods will only sync with one computer, and if you ever have to reinstall your OS or you change computers completely, your iPod won't sync with it at all.

What you need to do is Reset to Factory Settings on your iPod. This will free up the sync ID and allow you to reassign it by connecting it to any PC with iTunes installed. The upside is you'll be able to sync it with your computer again. The downside is you'll lose _all_ saved files on your iPod by doing this, unless you go chase down some third-party program that can decipher uploaded files. Reportedly, iTunes can actually download any songs on an iPod that were purchased from the iTunes store, but I rip mine from CD so I can't tell you whether or not it'll work with a computer that's not synced to the iPod.

ok what ipod you have, ipod touch, you will desire a identifying to purchase application call touch reproduction, it works i try it my self, in case you have the different ipod, beside the touch, you need to use idump to take the songs off the ipod into the pc, then you definitely can upload them decrease back to itunes, additionally you are able to decrease back them as much as cd or dvd, in case you do not have that many music, yet another factor you're able to do is connect an externalpersistent to the old pc and reproduction over the full track folder to the externalpersistent, then connect thatpersistent to the hot pc and reproduction that folder to the hot pc overwriting the track folder already there, and then open itunes, all your songs could happen. sturdy success

If you plug in your ipod and it's not sync'n up, this is what I did to resolve my issue today (05/22/07). I simply reset my ipod iteslf. This is done by holding the "menu" button and the center button down until the apple logo appears. Once that happens, plug in your ipod and your pc/itunes should detect it as new hardware and should resolve your problem.
