See that’s the problem with that book… they got the stories all wrong. It wasn’t “the temptations of Christ” it was the Temptations singing at Christ’s party. And it didn’t take place in the “wilderness”… they were at the Wilderness nightclub in LA. And while JC did say the infamous “Get thee behind me, Satan”, they messed up entirely on his next sentence, “It’s time for the conga line!” It’s just amazing how these things can get taken out of context.

p.s. I figured a joke about “turning the other cheek” might be going a bit too far =).

nicely, he reported it again in Matthew 16:23. and persons were round then. what's this susceptible aspect you attempt to make? on each occasion someone tells you a tale do you commonly call for eye witnesses to corroborate the account? That sounds incredibly dweebish to me.

They were in line for free pizza samples at the local grocery store when those vital words were spoken. Jesus got the last piece that wasn't almost all corner-crust, Satan....well, he's still mad about the whole thing.

I think they were entering a piggy back race and they were arguing who was gonna be the piggy. Looks like Jesus got what he wanted.

What he meant by that was he didn't want Satan to try to take over and tell him what to do. He didn't actually mean for him to get behind him as in stand behind him. Don't read it that way.
