do you think that Sirius is dead? I know that it is fact that Dumbledore is dead, but is Sirius? there have been no confirmed reports either way.

isn't it that the noone know what happens when people fall into the veil? if so, doesn't that meant there is a chance he is still alive?

why do you keep saying that dumbledore is alive when it has been confirmed by JK Rowling that he is dead? there have been no confirmations about Sirius... i looked it up on Mugglenet which has all of the stuff about Harry Potter.

Sadly, it has been confirmed by J.K. Rowling that Sirius is dead. At the Edinburgh "cub reporter" press conference, ITV, 16 July 2005, Sorley Richardson for Publishing News asked her " Why did you have to kill Sirius when it was the best thing that happened to Harry for years?"
JK Rowling: "We are back to me being a murderer, aren't we? People have asked me this a lot. I have been repeatedly told Sirius was my favourite character, why did he have to die? You can imagine how bad that makes me feel and in fact after I killed Sirius I went on the Internet and somehow stumbled across a fansite devoted entirely to Sirius and I killed him in the last 48 hours, so that wasn't good. I think you will realise why he had to go in terms of plot when you read the seventh book. It wasn't arbitrary although part of the answer is the one I have given before. It is more satisfying I think for the reader if the hero has to go on alone and to give him too much support makes his job too easy, sorry."
I've thought that Sirius has been dead since I read Book 5. The wizards and witches that work in the Department of Mysteries study different subjects in the many rooms there. There was a room where they studied time - it had stores of hourglasses, timeturners, and the bell jar with the perpetually hatching/dying bird inside it. There was a room with a door that remains locked at all times - Dumbledore told Harry that it contains a force more wonderful and terrible than death, than human intelligence, than forces of nature - love. Dumbledore referred to the room with the archway in it as "the death room". Harry said that Sirius wasn't dead because he was in denial. He didn't want to accept the fact that his godfather was dead. They didn't have enough time together and he wasn't prepared to lose him. Since Dumbledore doesn't lie, I believed him when he said that Sirius was dead, but we got further confirmation of his death in Book 6, when Harry inherited all of Sirius's possessions, in the chapter called "Will and Won't." I'd bet he'll be back in Book 7 though in photographs or memories.

I get the oddest feeling that Rowling intends to teach children a few hard lessons in her Harry Potter series. One being - trust almost no one. Two, the people who should love you and support you, sometimes don't. And three - no one EVER comes back from the dead.
I don't believe Harry's parents will ever come back, and I believe Rowling will write Harry as finally coming to grips with their deaths in final installment.
I do believe Snape IS evil, alas, because Harry Potter has always been right when it comes to judge of character. He correctly singled out Dorothy Umbridge, Draco Malfoy, and countless others.
Therefore, I do not think that Dumbledore's death was staged or a ruse or a decoy or any such thing. I believe Rowling wants her audience, especially the younger members, to understand that Death means gone. Forever.
All that being said, she may throw the biggest curveball ever and bring back everyone while making Snape out to be a hero. That'd be awfully disappointing, to be honest.

Well, I don't know about Sirius, but JKR was quoted as having the following conversation with Daniel (the HP actor).
Jo: *walks into room*
Dan: Hey, whay are you doing here?
Jo: I needed to get away for a while, Dumbledore is giving me a lot of trouble.
Dan: I thought he was dead!?!
Jo: He is, but it's more complicated than that.

Maybe he is maybe he isn't. I think he is because I believe those voices hear behind the arch thing is where all magical ghosts go and that's why the ministry of magic keeps in the the room of mysteries (or what ever it's called). Sorry for not remembering names of things, it's been a long time since I last read the books. But I do believe he's dead. As sad as it may be.

Yes he is dead! He went behind that arch with a veil.Do You remember dumbledore's word"Nothing can bring back the dead"?!
I don't wish to believe he is dead but the truth is he is eliminated as a living character from the book!

the strongest evidence I've seen for Sirius being dead was an interview with JKR. She said she came into the kitchen at home crying and told her husband she just killed off a character (Sirius, though she didn't tell him who).
"No problem', he said, "just write him back in."
"I can't" she said .... "I have to let people know Voldemort is truely evil."

It is a rule(of JKR) that in every book, some character must die.
(though POA was an exception)and it was Sirius who had to go in the 5th book.
Though, again, do you think Sirius will be put to any use by JKR in her forthcoming books?

I cannot think Sirius is dead. For some reason, I just can't. Right after he falls into the veil, and Remus holds Harry back, Harry shouts, "HE - IS - NOT - DEAD!"
Seriously, could she spell it out for us in plainer terms? And I've got the fangirl that lives in my head. She can't believe it. ^_^.

Yes, he is; and so is Dumbledore. Wether we like it or not. And we must prepare for the next looses, because Mrs. Rowling has announced that in the seventh book TWO important characters die.
