I am trying to create and size a JPEG image to print out onto a sheet of standard-size paper and I was wondering what dimensions to use (in pixels) so that the image will fill the page nicely without cropping or being too small.

Thanks!

You don't necessarily need to tinker with your pictures. Open the picture with Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer. When you click the print button it will open the Photo Printing Wizard. Just choose the "full page" option and it will resize the print to fit one entire page.

That depends on the dpi of the printer. If you take the standard paper (8.5x11) and choose the common photo size of 8x10 and print at 200 dpi, then the image has to be 2000 pixels by 1600 pixel and the output sized to fit. If the printer does 300 then it has to be 3000 x 2400.

The page is 8½ x 11 inches. That's 816 x 1056 pixels, at 96 dots per inch.

The actual size in pixels of a sheet of paper is 2550x3300 but that makes for a large file, about 1.5M. You could probably go with half that size.
