I'm a beginner in this fish thing and i have a list of fish that i'd like to have but i'm not sure if the're all compatible or not. I'm getting a 46 gallon tank soon. I'd like to have 5 male guppys, 5 neon tetras, 5 zebra danios, 5 swordtails, 5 tiger barbs, 2 balloon belly mollys, 1 clown pleco, and 2 khuli loaches. are these all compatible, and is there enough room in the tank for all of them? Thanks!!

Welcome to the hobby!

Not a bad mix of fish, but like others said I too would suggest you drop the tiger barbs. I would also suggest you drop the mollies as they really like more salt in the tank than most of your other fish choices. Try adding a few more neons, an extra danio and a few cherry barbs or checkerboard barbs. Gold barbs would also be a good choice and add some really bright color.

Since you are fairly new, I would like to recommend a website to you. The link below is for the first page of several and they would all be a good read for your BEFORE you get your new tank. It will really help you understand how to start a tank and what to expect for the first few weeks. If after reading through them you have any questions, please feel free to email me and I'll be glad to help

Hope that helps

Everything is good except the tiger barbs. Tiger barbs are notorious fin nippers and will harass the heck out of your fish...especially the fancy tailed guppies.

If you're set on a school of barbs, try the cherry barbs as they're less aggressive.

The other thing you will have to do is add aquarium salt if you have the mollies.

They all should be ok. We have tiger barbs in our tank with other fish & have not had a problem. We've had them in with mollys, tetras, & danios as well as some other non-aggressive fish & they've minded their own business.

Maybe not the Tiger Barbs.

They are known to be big fin nippers, so they might rip up the Guppies.

But all the other onces would do fine.

yes, they are all compatible. if i were you, i would get like 2 male guppies instead of 5 male guppies, and get like 5 or 6 female guppies. so you can have some more babies soon.

that should be ok xcept, try adding more tigers. Yes they are fin nippers but they seem to be ok in large schools of 8 or more.
