im doing an assignment on wheelchair access an in my introduction i would like to state the ratio of people that end up some time in their life having to use one for example it might be 1 in 10 people have used a wheel chair in their life. by the way they have to use the wheel chair over a week in time

I can't give you the ratio but reason to why people use wheelchairs.
Some have strong upper bodies and just need a wheelchair to get around. Hand pushed.
Some have weak bodies or high level of spine injury.
Other can walk but if they are going out to a theme park etc they use a walk chair.
Other use wheelchairs but can walk a little.
Some people use them while recovering from operation.
And you have the age people too.

I cannot recall the source of it, but the number we use at work is about 1.5% of the general public will use a wheelchair for over a month.
