do i really need to by the KIT so that i could use the dual channel memory which is much expensive than buying two memory module with the same model separately?

Dual Channel KIT is part of the "Marketing Game". Two sticks of the same make and model will work on dual channel mode.

As long as they are the same size, speed, type and brand, you shouldn't have a problem configuring two single sticks for dual-channel. I did that with my PC, should be a snap. just make sure they are exactly the same in every way.
