I believe that many poorer countries expect money and aid to constantly be sent because that has been the norm. But the sad fact is that while they expect this from the American Government, it's the private sector that collects the most money that is sent overseas............African aid alone is in the billions and the problem is that many of these poorer countries dictators are keeping the money and the medical supplies and re-selling them at a huge profit. It was free so it is all profit............But I watched a special on CNN that showed how one of this dictators turned around and used American aid money to help fund a terrorist cell.........sad but true.

I hate to feel this way but yes! If we would help other Americans first we might eradicate homelessness, starvation and welfare. It wont happen overnight but all the money shoved into war could have built shelters for homeless who would now be able to hold down a job even if its minimum wage but it would be paying taxes and putting money back into the economy. This would also help cut back on the price stores increase anticipating stolen goods -not saying that any of the aforementioned individuals are the cause of stealing but if everyone had the money for the essential it may be less.

There is no reason anyone should go hungry! We could use the same shelters as soup kitchens for those living below poverty level and provide a meal in exchange for assistance say hmmm keeping the neighborhood clean. Something everyone wants.

Once America is right then yeah lets help others.

We have many problems at home that need America's attention. The world expects us to help and criticizes what we do or don't do. If we don't stop helping the illegal immigrants, Medicare and Social Security will be bankrupt within 25 years.

Kind of. but we're not helping others as much as we are helping the politicians that are voting to help others. Don't think they ain't getting their pockets lined. But its easier to hide that money when its out of the country.

No because America is so much more fortunate than other countries and although some countries have just as enough money than us I think it is good that our country conties to help other countries and people in general because its good for our image and society as a whole. Kind of like good karma, what we give unselfhishly we get back 7 fold.

We should be helping other Americans; there are plenty of people here that can't afford to go to the doctor.

There does seem to be a lot of it.... especially when they donate more to other countries than any other....
kind of ironic that they also get the most criticism.....
