My one-year old cat gave birth today to five kittens. I'm not sure when to offer her food. Also, when can she be moved out of the box from her babies if she so desires?

As others said, offer it now and she will eat when she needs to. Do not restrict her food to only once or twice a day like some people do on a normal basis. Keep her food and water bowl full at all times (if going to work, provide two bowls of food and three of water while you are gone). She is nursing her little ones and will need to replenish with calories and water often throughout the day. Restricting her intake will hinder her babies' health as well as her own!

Your cat should have eaten the sacs around her kittens. This gives her a lot of nutrition. She will get up and eat when she has to. Put her food and water near her. As for the box with the babies, they will all get up and leave when the time is right (make sure the box has sides low enough for the little guys). Also, make sure you have a very low litter box ready for when they start to go on their own. Also, they will start eating solid food when the time is right, just have it out for them. Cats pretty much take care of themselves when it comes to these matters.

Offer her small amounts of food every couple of hours. It depends on her. Our kitty had kittens in October and she just touched the food for a couple of hours and then ate plate after plate of canned food (she would not touch the hard food at all).

She can leave her kittens whenever she wants. We waited to change the blanket for a day or so and then changed it daily after that (I used baby receiving blankets with a softer blanket underneath).

She can eat right after birth. Its a good idea because she used up a lot of energy in labor. She should be able to freely come and go with her babies. She doesn't need to be there 24/7.

You can put momma's food and water a little closer to her box if you like but momma kitty will go to her normal spot to eat and drink when she is ready. She sometimes needs a break from her babies so this is good for her to venture out to eat and drink in peace from time to time.
She won't be gone long and she knows when she is hungry and thirsty enough to go out. Nature has a way of doing for itself so don't worry!

When she is ready to eat, she'll leave the box and search for her dinner.

When she's ready to move the kitties, you'll know, since she will move them.
