They have to live up to the title they've earned. It would be pretty mean of them to make everyone out to be liars, one can be lazy and honest, right? And honesty is the best policy.

I suppose that lazy people may be getting the most out of life, but it's hard for me to imagine how. I can't imagine not having any drive or ambition to accomplish anything, and having the desire to engage only in passive activities, always being a spectator, never acting. Laziness, in many cases, leads to poor health, low self-esteem, lack of hope, and low self-confidence, among other things that I just don't see. It also robs a person of a sense of accomplishment, a sense of self-worth, and self-development. How are you going to learn anything or pick up a new skill or develop a talent if you're too lazy to get up and do something? A person who's afraid of other people or of social situations may choose a passive approach to everything so that they won't have to take any risks. A slow learner may prefer appearing lazy to appearing stupid--if I don't do the work at all, no one will criticize my performance. Some folks can look so busy doing nothin' that they seem indispensable.

It takes energy to create a higher and better order. That means work. It takes more energy to raise a family than it does just being a married couple. But the family is a higher order. It's easy to just work for the big corp and hang in a cube for 8 hrs, but it takes a lot more energy to run one's own business.
Lazy people like to settle for lower orders. They see what it takes to build a better life, but turn back when they realize the effort to build and maintain. They would rather accept the status quo than work for an improvement. I think a lot of it is fear of failure and change. Everything in the universe tends toward a state of decay. Lazy people apply just enough energy to keep things from decaying, but because of a fear they don't wish to move out of the comfort zone for a chance, a risk, for something bigger and better.

I don't believe anyone is truly lazy if they have a purpose. Aside from actual chemical problems in the brain, I believe laziness can be something emotional.
If you feel that life has treated you unfairly, you don't like your job, and you're pretty sure that life is going to continue to treat you badly, what's the friggin' point? You have no good reason to get out of bed in the morning.
If you find something, on the other hand, that you are truly passionate about (not necessarily that ONE thing in life--many people have more than one interest), you have a reason to get up in the morning and you're "switched on."
Find out what motivates you, what fulfills you, and try to dedicate some time to it.
You are not lazy.

There's different reasons for being lazy. Some people are lazy because they are unmotivated, like a smart kid who gets low grades. Some because they're uncaring, like a lover who won't bother to make a relationship work. Some because they're diets mess around with them, like someone who ate too much pasta, so they don't feel like going for a walk.

Most of my time is commited. I'm a mom, student, full time employee, my husband is gone working 60 hours a week, I am the one who primarily tkes care of the house, and when I have some time that doesn't require HAVING to do something, I usually don't. I take the few moments I have to sit around and do nothing because I can.

I can't speak for all people but I know I became alot lazier as I got older. (I'm 39 now) Keeping the house spotless and running around all the time seems to have lost it's appeal when compared to watching a good movie. I think it's due to fatigue.

uh...pretty general question. has he had any events in his life that changed or has he always been lazy? lazy people normally are like that because there not use to working like they use to, no motivation, depression, need someone to push a busy schedule back into their life, or maybe his life is too boring for him that he became lazy.

Maybe they lack motivation, energy or desire to achieve a goal. Enthusiasm would solve your friend's problem. If they have this, the motivation (instead of laziness) will be there to achieve things.

Often this is an assessment by others when they are frustrated that someone doesn't share their goals or values, like when one spouse or roommate is tidier than the other. The neat freak thinks the slob is lazy. The slob just doesn't care.
