Are you taking prescriped ones or the over the counter ones? I seem to get sick more with the over the counter ones instead. Try taking the vitamins in the evening after your dinner. I usually take mines in the morning, but I was sick all morning or all day long.

If you are in your first trimester, then don't worry too much. It should go away after that. If not, talk to your doctor. They can prescribe something to help with the nausae, but it can knock you out like it did with me so I took mine at night.

Also, crackers didn't do anything for me, but bread helped. Try to definitely eat a hearty breakfast too because if not, then your nausae will continue for most of the day. Hopes this helps.

I had the problem with my first child, and the greatest advice anyone ever told me was from my doc at the time. He told me to go out and get a bottle of vitamin B6 and take one in the morning about half an hour before taking the prenatal vitamin. It was the only way I could keep the prenatal vitamin down. The sensitivity of smell will either go away or lessen to the point where you feel like eating again, but just try bland stuff like saltines, until the extreme nausea passes. Good luck, I hope it helps!

That happen to myself and my friend we both was really sick, I even throw up water and when I started to eat before I can fully get it down it would come back up. The only bad thing is that the prenatal vitamins is what you and your growing child needs. This work tell your doctor to change your pills into the smaller ones because you can't eat and see if that changes anything but you will have to take it more times in a day. It can also be your hormones and the funny thing about being pregnant is that any nutrition that your body doesn't need for the baby it will get rid of. So just keep on eating and you will find something that your body will accept. It will get better

Prenatal vitamins may not be the only cause of your nausea. Usually the culprit is pregnancy hormones. However, if the vitamins are making you sick, the obstetricians at the hospital where I work recommend Flintstones chewable vitamins. They don't provide as much nutritional supplement as the prenatal vitamins, but are much better that taking no vitamin supplement during pregnancy.

I would definitely talk to your Dr about the prenatals. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I have issues with swallowing pills, so since day 1, I've been taking chewable prenatals. My friend gave me her left overs because it was taking a while to get an appt, and then I requested that from the Dr. They don't taste the best, but I always take them with some kind of flavored drink to kind of rinse my mouth. I know this is a "no-no" but I used to drink coffee and that did the trick. They're just so full of iron it is hard!! My friend just had her baby boy, and she couldn't even get down the chewables, so AFTER TALKING TO HER DR, she ended up taking a few different kinds of daily vitamins instead of one prenatal. I would definitely do something right away, because those aren't just for the baby, but you too....babies take away so many nutrients when their inside the mom's belly, that you will start to have affects, and possibly even dental damage.

Sometimes the iron makes you sick. Try cutting them in half and have half in the a.m. and half in the p.m. If this is still a problem after a week, I'd switch to regular vitamins until your next appointment. Then ask the doc what s/he suggests. The problem with prenatals is that they are a one size fits all. If you eat adequate amounts of meat and fish, you likely don't have an iron problem, so it is a non-problem.

First of all, people who say pre-natal vitamins don't make you sick - have no idea what they are talking about... I am 31 wks pregnant and have to take my vitamins after dinner otherwise I have a very bad nausea etc. Try to do it in the evening (at least 3 hrs before you go to sleep). Trust me- this is coming from a woman who have had a VERY difficult pregnancy. Good luck!

Are you taking them WITH food? Having something in your stomach before you take them helps. Otherwise, wait until your 'morning sickness' phase is over. Right now, the most important vitamin in that whole cumulation of vitamins is the folic acid. GNC carries a folic acid in a silver bottle that is chewable. Tastes a little like banana. Buy some of those and take them alone until you can stomach the whole vitamin supplement. They made me sick, too. They also carry B vitamins in the silver bottle...I would take those separate as well. The B12 is chewable, but don't attempt the 6...it's very, very tart. By taking them separately, you can space them out, too.

I remember those prenatal vitamins--yes, they were pretty nasty, but they were really important.

It could be that you're feeling sick BECAUSE you are pregnant and the vitamins aren't really the main reason. Eating something bland when you take the vitamins could help settle your stomach. I'd suggest a piece of bread or a graham cracker.

You could mention this to your doctor at your next appointment, too. The doctor might be able to prescribe a different vitamin.

Good luck to you.

try not taking the vitamins for a week and see if you start to feel better if you do then you know that it is them causing the problems, then try taking two flinstones vitamins w/ iron daily and those are easier on the stomach. If you stop taking the vitamins and you continue to be sick, then it is just from the pregnancy. Good luck
