Do what ever you can to help her. She is probably doing these things because she is hurt emotionally. Has any thing tragic happened to her? Does she have a bad home life? Most of the times kids do this as an ecxape from stress, sorrow, and regret. What is she smoking cigarretts or drugs. Neither of those things get you in a good place. If she is doing drugs then she needs immediate help. Drugs make you feel unbelievebly good when doing them, but that stuff alters your mind. It affects how you hadle situations and it pretty much turns you into a monster. All you want is drugs. You lose interest in things you used to love. Also it causes sevear health problems. If you want to know the full affect do some research on what ever drug(s) she is doing. Most likely weed. Believe me as an ex-stoner drugs get you no where good. I'm attually going to have to go see my probation officer soon so I can take a drug test. Drugs change you. I can see now how unstable I was back then, but when your doing it you have no idea that your even a little unstable. So she is probably not going to believe you when you tell her she's in for trouble if she continues this. Also she WILL get caught ever one I knew and I got caught. Like I said try and help her. It sounds like it is too late for her to help herself. If I didn't have those who helped me I would still stuck up in my old ways. Even if you have to call the cops on her and tell them what she has been doing. She will be very mad at first, but after she comes to her senses she will thank you. Beware sometimes you never can. I was lucky. I'm back I just hope it isn't too late for her. Do what you must. Your freinds fate is in your hands. Don't be afraid that she will go to jail. It usually never happens. All I got was 15 hours of community service, few months of probation, and a $45 fine I think it was.
All the best

Wow, good for you not wanting to smoke and drink, etc. Being honest is your best choice. Tell her you consider her a best friend and it is killing you not to be around her and if drinking and that kind of behavior is more important than your friendship that you are sorry but until she changes that behavior you can't be around her. What caused her to do these things? Trouble at home? a new boyfriend? other friends? Peer pressure from someone in her grade? You cannot help her if she doesn't want help, but you can let her know you would always be there as a friend to listen if she wanted to talk as long as she left the "bad" behavior away from you. This must be hard on your mom too. Her best friends child gone wild. Prepare for anger most people will be angry at first, but if your honest and speak from the heart usually people get over it, but sometimes people who drink and stuff don't think right and do unexpected things. Obviously your mom knows about it since she told you not to hang with her, use your mom as a resource she probably knows what your feeling and can help. Good Luck!

If your friend is truly a friend she will respect your feelings and either stop or understand that you do not tolerate her out of control behavior. Eventually she will come around if she is ready to change. You can't make her change, you can only change yourself, and you wouldn't want to keep hanging out and get dragged into the same mess. Protect yourself.

Tell her the truth.
Tell her that as long as she is doing these self-destructive things, your Mom doesn't want you to hang-out with her, and that you don't want to be around her when she is doing those things.
I'm sorry you will be turning your friend away, but maybe it will help her get her life back in focus. Then maybe you can resume your friendship.

the same thing happened to me, you can tell her,"you really should stop... (you have probably already told her this before..) try to be assertive if she doesnt get it.. you either stop or our friendship is over, unfortunately, and i really dont want that to happen because you are mybest friend..."
and if she refuses or makes up an excuse like
"i cant, i'm already hooked" or "its too hard"
then simply reply..
"i guess you know the answer then."

your mother is best friends with your girlfriend , so if your friend doesnt want to listen to you , talk to her mother .,or have your mother talk to her . Sometimes friens have to find out the hard way if they dont want to take advice .All you can do is try . Sounds like you are doing that .
