We just bought a Samsung flat screen monitor and every image looks HORRIBLE and distorted. Pictures and text look grainy and images that were square in shape now look rectangular. We have tried ALL the basic things, including changing the resolution, which just makes the images too small or too large while the crappy quality remains the same. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem or has any idea how to fix it. I thought that the LCD screen would have better quality image than our old monitor, but apparently not! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

You might have to install the drivers for the LCD display so it would work. Your pc through the video card is still sending data trought the video out ports as if the old display were installed. The new device might need some drivers installed to enable windows to use it properly. There should be a cd that came with the new display. Or you could find the device's drivers from the manufacturer's web site at the support page.

Return it for credit or a replacement.
It shouldn't be grainy, etc. from the get go. If your previous monitor had a good "picture" then this one should also.
It doesn't really matter if it's a CRT (picture tube) or a LCD (flatpanel) it should just plug in and be fine and then just a matter of adjusting the resolution to the size you like the best.
I'd definitely return it.

If the original image is a bad picture then there is nothing a new monitor can do for you. However check the settings in the computer itself to make sure that the computer is set to the monitor's native resolution.

the first thing i'm thinking about are
1- your VGA card
2- your monitor cable
check them both , and if possible , connect the monitor to another computer , and see if the quality is the same , if it is , then ur VGA card is innocent , if it displays stuff much better , suspect your VGA card , also , it might be a production error or something , if none of the above helped , return it to the vendor and have it replaced.
