No not at all. A lot of women with these names were named in an Era (late 60's early 70's) when the Black Pride and Power movement became popular. Blacks wanted names that were closer to their culture. As with any culture whatever sounds good at the time is what some parents choose to go with. A lot of these names have significant meaning to them, but shallow people only see how the name is spelled or pronounced.
Would it be biased for me to ask if all white women with names like Sue, Mary, Beth, and Jane are heartless backstabbing and rude "barbie-queens? Very much so it would be biased cause all these women with these names have there "own" personality.
Oh and by the way my Black Woman Doctor is not ghetto and her name is Laquesha!!!

I think that is a load of crap! Although stereo typing is so common. I am the whitest white girl from central nebraska and I don't label people like that. My daughter's name is Trezna and everyone automatically assumes before they see her that she must be partially black because her name is unusual. I resent that my daughter is being labeled before she's even seen. I think everyone's parents have reasons for naming them what they do and that you should get to know someone before labeling them anything. Also, I know A LOT of Amys, Sarahs, Andreas, Mollys, and ect. that are drama queens! I think that as women we all have a little bit of that in us at one time or another! Sometimes our passion just gets out of hand!

A name might not mean everything, but it is important in some aspects of life including getting a job interview and being successful in business. There must be a correlation between names and success because how many doctors, lawyers or engineers do you know with "weird or original" names?

Its in my openion , just another black family trying to change the norm, and be on the otherside, while at the same time complaining about being on the other side! Whatever the gripe, yall bring it upon yourselves. In things such as speach, dress, moral standards, and music! Country singer Charly Pride was a black man admired by all. He knew where the belt line is, he had compassion, and none of his songs contain the words Yo, Ho, or Crib! You think you can change the world just by being black? Ebonics didnt enter Public School, did it? Not because white people didnt want it, but because other races also didnt want it! The Democracy, and the majority that i speak of isnt all White!
P.S. yes, i am white, and no, my name is not Ram-a-dam-a-ding-dong!

It is amazing what some people look for to complain about. It means that it is her name. I know someone named Rodeo, and I have never seen him near a bull. Who cares what anybody name is. It is not that serious honey.

No it means that her parents might have been at one time. They choose her name not her. It is possible that she was just stuck with an unfortunate name.

Not at all. One gal I worked with was named Lacara, smart young lady who went to private schools and took extra classes at Yale. No, don't think she was even remotely "ghetto."
Does my name, Courtney, mean I'm automatically a white prep? Some might think so, but I'm actually half Native and from a run-of-the-mill family. Names have nothing to do with a person's personality---at least not in mainstream American culture.
